Noise Source and Noise Measurement Basics
Gregory covers the essentials of Noise Sources and Measurements, focusing on the use of a BJT transistor as a noise source. The BJT is configured with a reversed bias at its base-emitter junction, followed by a series of common-emitter amplifiers.
To analyze the noise at the circuit output, Gregory employs a Spectrum Analyzer with a noise marker function. This data is then used to estimate the BJT Excess Noise Ratio (ENR), factoring in the noise floor and amplification gain slope of the measurement setup.
The results are presented as Noise Power Densities and Noise Temperatures, chosen for their convenience in respective calculations. This approach allows for a straightforward yet thorough ...

Gregory experiments with a Reference Source and Clock distributor that uses the Si5351 clock generator IC. The unit comprises an Ovenized Crystal Oscillator OCXO as the frequency reference, an 8 output clock distributor IC, and a modern microcontroller. Each output is configurable independently, with a frequency range from 10kHz to 200MHz. This video was made possible by the Patreon community. ...
How a Tesla Coil Works

Gregory explains how a Tesla Coil works. The working principle is explained from the Tesla Coil end-result - the creation of big sparks - going backwards to the power electronics stages and how they operate. A DRSSTC Tesla Coil utilizes a power electronics inverter, feeding a double resonant circuit that converts the low impedance power, creating high voltages sufficient for breaking the dielec...

I'm CSE student, and trying to understand this PLL thing. Guys at 7:35 , "If we have bit rate of 1200 bits ...pulse will be of 1200 Hz.." My Question is : once we detected edges/pulse of input signal (which will have different widths/distance between pulses dependent on data for example 110001, so the pulse would be like **|***| (*=diff volt representing bits 1 or 0 , edges=|), right?) , how do we get correct clock? . Also (7:35) why pulse repetition rate would also be 1200 Hz, which is dependent on data bits. for examples a data like 1001111100110 wouldn't have edges/pulse of same interval. would it?

Forgive my dumbness, I was always confused by clocks and still am. Have a question: So If I for example. continuously have data 00110011... and PLL is locked thinking clock is actually 2x slower - and now I get data 01 - it won't be recovered correctly? Or did I get everything completely wrong?

Yes! And also: the PLL will not think the clock is 50% lower... The PLL is designed to correct for deviations.. like 5 ppm (100 * 5 / 1000000) %

I worked on this extensively about 20 to 25 years ago, when technology was emerging to make this practical with off the shelf DSPs, without having to rely on dedicated ASICs or a large component count solution. There were other complexities in my application, as it was for space, and I was also using additional methods applied to the PA itself, based on Doherty techniques, to improve efficiency to reduce power budget and improve thermals. I never thought I'd ever see a RUclips video on it though! Bravo!

The frequency components of time domain pulses are also "peaks" in frequency, spaced by the 1 / T, where T is the repetition period of the pulse.
